First FAST Network Dedicated to Live Motorsports Launches This Weekend  With Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance From France

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 1, 2023) – SPEED SPORT 1, the first FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) network dedicated to live motorsports, launches this weekend with real-time coverage of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance from Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France.

The Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance is a highly competitive sports-car racing championship held at some of motorsports’ most iconic venues. Featuring professional drivers from around the world, the series attracts prominent teams and manufacturers, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Porsche, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-AMG.

The Circuit Paul Ricard 1000km is the third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance’s 10-race season. The series kicked off its 2023 campaign April 20-23 at Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza before round two May 13-14 at Great Britain’s Brands Hatch Circuit.

SPEED SPORT 1’s broadcast of the six-hour race around the 5.791-kilometer, 15-turn road course in the heart of the Bandol vineyards provides the first look at the kind of diverse and global motorsports offerings SPEED SPORT 1 delivers.

Fans who do not yet have access to SPEED SPORT 1 on their television can still watch live coverage of the Circuit Paul Ricard 1000km via the free trial offered on SPEEDSPORT1.com. The race gets underway at 6 p.m. CEST (12 p.m. EDT) and ends at 12 p.m. CEST (6 p.m. EDT).

SPEED SPORT 1 president and general manager Dan Teitscheid and his team at Obsession Media have been working toward this moment since SPEED SPORT 1 was first announced last December.

“SPEED SPORT 1 is a one-of-a-kind network dedicated to live motorsports and we plan to deliver hundreds of events and thousands of hours of the finest motorsports content from around the globe this year alone. This weekend’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Endurance from Circuit Paul Ricard is just the start. SPEED SPORT is one of America’s oldest and most trusted brands in motorsports media, and it partnered with Obsession Media, a television network development group, along with a consortium of motorsports and television executives who have more than 100 years of collective experience, to launch SPEED SPORT 1.

SPEED SPORT 1 combines the reach, history and brand awareness of SPEED SPORT with the demonstrated accomplishments and expertise of some of TV’s most prominent motorsports executives to deliver a world-class motorsports network to the sport’s most passionate fans.

“SPEED SPORT became known as the ‘Bible of Motorsports’ because of its in-depth coverage of all things racing, particularly under the guidance of the late, great Chris Economaki,” said Ralph Sheheen, president and co-founder, SPEED SPORT. “Now with SPEED SPORT 1, we’ve brought back the dedicated motorsports TV channel, complete with live content and racing highlights from around the world, covering the kind of events that made household names of A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart. SPEED SPORT 1 is television by the fans, for the fans, and Chris would’ve loved it.”

“Our goal since taking over the reins of SPEED SPORT has been to turn it into a complete motorsports media company, and now we’re fully realizing that with SPEED SPORT 1,” said Joe Tripp, CEO and co-founder, SPEED SPORT. “Together with Obsession Media, we’re applying the same authenticity and passion that made SPEED SPORT what it is today, and we’ve created a true motorsports destination network that appeals to both hardcore racing fans and viewers who are new to the sport. Motorsports is enjoying a global renaissance and SPEED SPORT 1 is delivering the content, highlights and insight fans of all forms of racing crave.”
